Welcome to the smallest and lightest production car we’ve ever built. Equipped with Suzuki’s latest 3 cylinder turbo charged engine, the 84bhp unit powers the 440kg Seven 170 to 62mph in just 6.9 seconds. With a power-to-weight ratio in excess of 170bhp-per-tonne (specification dependent), in a package boasting all the poise and agility you’d expect from a Caterham, we know you’ll love it as much as we do. The Caterham 170 S is a car you’ll feel connected with even when travelling in a straight line. Unlike other cars which now use technology to minimise driver fatigue and input, the Caterham 170S is all about keeping you busy – whether it’s flicking a switch for the wipers, pulling a plunger for the header – or simply keeping control of its super-quick steering rack. Top Gear ### The fun of a 170, for me, comes with knowing that it doesn’t take much to get the car rolling and keep it fizzing along. I like a narrow-bodied Seven – it feels in keeping with the lightweighting ethos. An optional lowered floor makes the driving position low-slung and snug in the composite seats, and with harnesses too it feels much more serious from inside than the power output and wheel size would have you believe.
