Waving goodbye to the Seven 485
It is with immense pride and yet with a touch of sadness, to share that the final Caterham Seven 485 has now left the Caterham factory.
The story of the Seven 485 began in 2013, when we first introduced it to the European market. At its heart was a Caterham-tuned naturally aspirated Ford Duratec 2.0-litre engine, resulting in the most powerful and fastest production Seven for the continent to date. Offered in S, R and later in CSR variants, the model became an instant hit, with 583 units built in total.
To commemorate the end of the 485's production run, we unveiled the Seven 485 Final Edition (FE) and Seven 485 CSR Final Edition (FE) in May 2024. This celebratory run was limited to just 85 units for the European market: 60 units of the 485 FE and 25 units of the 485 CSR FE.
The last model to leave the factory is a large chassis, finished in Volcano Red teamed with a black noseband and centre stripe, heading for Switzerland at Caterham Kumschick Sports Cars AG to find an owner. This is an appropriate end to the tale as Kumschick remains the retailer who took the most orders, having supplied 123 units.

This marks an exciting new chapter for the Academy, with the introduction of a new generation of Academy cars. We’re thrilled to kick off this next era in partnership with Caffeine&Machine, the ultimate hub for automotive enthusiasts. This collaboration brings together two brands at the very heart of UK car culture, making for a perfect synergy.
Phil McGovern
Phil McGovern is the founder and creative force behind Caffeine&Machine, a celebrated automotive-culture hub just outside Stratford-upon-Avon.
Since its creation in 2015, Caffeine&Machine has grown to be the welcoming, inclusive space it was designed to be. A place where petrolheads of all backgrounds gather to celebrate cars, art, and community across three permanent venues in the UK, The Hill, The Bowl and The Hut.
As part of our partnership with Caffeine&Machine, we are teaming up with Phil as he fulfils a lifelong dream of becoming a racing driver. Along with our cohort of rookie racing drivers for next season, Phil will be on the starting grid in May, piloting his way through his first full season of racing in the Caterham Academy.
